Clinics

All GP practices are contracted to provide “essential services” that is basic treatment of ill people. 

We also provide the following “additional services”.

• Child health surveillance - together with the health visiting team.

• Contraceptive services- we do not fit nor remove coils, please phone the Sandyford Clinic  on 0141 211 8130 to make appointments for this service.

• Maternity services -  in the ante natal and post natal period.
• Cervical smears
• We also hold contracts with GGNHSB for the following “enhanced services”.

• Regular monitoring - by blood and urine tests, for patients on a range of drugs for arthritis and bowel problems.
• Annual comprehensive reviews - for patients with heart disease.
• Annual comprehensive reviews - for patients with diabetes; this includes appointment with the dietician.
• Annual comprehensive reviews - for patients who have suffered a stroke/TIA
• Annual comprehensive reviews - for patients with MS.
• Annual comprehensive reviews - for patients with dementia
• Annual comprehensive reviews - for patients with mental health requirements

Travel Vaccinations

GP's no longer deliver any travel health vaccines and the responsibility for this has transferred to the Health Board.

4 Travel Vaccines are available on the NHS (Typhoid, Hepatitis A, DPT and Cholera) at no direct cost to the patient. Any other vaccinations will incur a cost to the patient as at present

Non-NHS Services

Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:

• Insurance claim forms
• Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
• Private sick notes
• Vaccination certificates
• Holiday Cancellation

The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.

This can be provided by accessing -

• Several local chemists are involved in providing smoking cessation services
